Shajara Néehilan Bensusan is Associate Professor of Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Brasília. Shajara is the author of Memory Assemblages: Spectral Realism and the Logic of Addition (Bloomsbury, 2024), and Indexicalism: Realism and the Metaphysics of Paradox (Edinburgh University Press, 2021). Their main philosophical interests—including spectrality, memory studies, deconstruction, speculative realism, materialism, process philosophy, decoloniality, Amerindian thought and Black diasporic theory—are entwined with their performances and short films. In this episode, we explore how memory assemblages enable us to reassemble the social and the nonhuman world, both ecological and technological, and unpack their implications for political engagement and artistic practice.
